Diane was predeceased by her parents William and Olive Jeffrey of East Kildonan, MB and her brother Glenn (1999), sister-in-law Joan Davidson (2020) and a nephew David Jagger (1969).
She started her working career at the T. Eaton Company Accounting Department in Winnipeg. Diane met Gord and they married May 2, 1958 at Holy Trinity Anglican Church and after a couple of moves settled in their home on Drummond Place in Westwood to raise their boys. Diane undertook an Art History program at the University of Winnipeg which began her love of art and she was a 30 year volunteer at the Royal Winnipeg Art Gallery, primarily managing Art Rental and Sales. She was also a faithful member of Beta Sigma Phi Epsilon Chapter sorority. Once the boys were on their own, Diane opened Country Charm, a successful furniture and gift accessory business on Broadway Ave. in Winnipeg.
In retirement, Diane accompanied Gord on his consulting assignments to Estonia, Russia and the Czech Republic as volunteers with CESO and she taught English as a second language.
Always supportive of Gord in his various Rotary Club endeavours, she, as well as Gord, was recognized by becoming a multi Paul Harris Fellow and Bequest Society members, and latterly she was the focus of successful fundraising walks for the MS Society thru “Team Dianeomite” in Qualicum Beach.
Summer holidays and vacations were a yearly happy occasion, starting at Lester Beach, Star Lake, Victoria Beach and Lake of the Woods with family and friends. Winter time brought sojourns for cross country skiing at Hecla Island, Riding Mountain National Park, Jasper Park Lodge. More recently trips to the Okanagan Valley and Fairmont Hot Springs then enjoying the warmth of, Hawaii, Florida and Jamaica. A couple of summers saw the family on the Chief Mountain Dude Ranch in Montana. Tours of England, Ireland and Scotland were highlights of travel experiences in particular when supporting Brad in his piping competitions at Highland Games.
In 2005 Diane & Gord relocated to the warmer climes of Vancouver Island and settled in Qualicum Beach where they both were active members of the Probus Club of QB and Diane, in particular, enjoyed participation in the Book Club, Discussion Group and the weekly Walking group.
Suffering with the frustrations and indignities of MS since 1998, Diane considered herself fortunate as others had it so much worse. However, in 2016, her health concerns necessitated a move to the Berwick in Comox and recently back to Qualicum Beach to the Eagle Park Health facility. Our family is most appreciative of the assistance and support in both places.
Cremation has taken place. There will not be a Celebration of Life at this time, but a family gathering will be arranged when appropriate protocols are established. Flowers gratefully declined, however, donations to the Rotary Foundation – Gordon B. And Diane B. Davidson Permanent Fund ID421970 would be appreciated.
