Dennis was a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants. In 1992, Dennis opened his St. Albert practice (F D Ormrod & Company), and later another office in Drayton Valley, Alberta. He retired in 2017. Dennis took great pride in the fact that he operated a “teaching office,” bringing young chartered accounting students along to their CA designation. It was one of the highlights of his career.
Dennis was a student of karate, earning a second degree black belt. Karate was a big part of Dennis’s life, one which he enjoyed thoroughly. He also enjoyed photography and leaves an enormous collection of photographs taken on his many trips. He visited Europe with Madonne in 1975 and spoke often of his trip to Normandy. He had a tremendous amount of respect for the young men who lost their lives there.
With Maggie, Dennis traveled to Dublin, Cyprus, Paris, London, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver, Victoria, and Salt Spring Island. They made many trips elsewhere, including Banff, Jasper, and Lake Louise.

“Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I will not become angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”

  1. I had the opportunity to work with Dennis both professionally with his clients & through ESMMY school activities/events . His twin daughters were classmates of our son . Dennis was an affable fellow with an easy going demeanor. Our sympathies go out to his family. May he rest in peace for a life well lived
