It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and Father. Left to cherish his memories are his wife Jean of 67 years; Children – Kenneth, Jeffrey and Lori, Grandchildren Nathan, Chad, Kevan, Joanne and Crystal. (Predeceased by Grandson Don Smith.) 10 great grandchildren- Daniel, Jennifer Peters of Vernon, B.C. Riley, Russell and Annabella Peters of Abbotsford, and extended family.
Born in Vancouver he was the youngest of 6 children to Parents Herbert H. an L.J. Maud Bodkin (nee Wood) and was predeceased by brothers Ernie (Helen); Edward (Martha, Jean and Ruth.and Nephew Ross); Walter (Joan). Sisters Rene (Wilf) niece Diane; Marion (Bill), niece Jacqueline.
Dennis attended Sir James Douglas and King Edward High School followed by Mr. Lambert’s Radio Operator class. Following completion of his education he was employed by the Department of Transport and spent the next 15 years in Marine and Airport stations in B.C. before transferring to the Abbotsford Airport as an electronic technician until 1978 and finished his career in 1983 in the head office in Vancouver.
After retirement he was an active member of the Abbotsford branch of F.S.N.A. and Life member of Abbotsford Genealogical Society. Gill and Jean enjoyed camping, cruising and travelling with friends and family.
We wish to thank the staff at Tabor Home for the wonderful care given to Gill for the last 5 1/2 years of his Alzheimer journey.
A private family graveside service due to Covid 19 restrictions will be held later.
The family requests that if anyone so desires, donations to the Tabor Home building fund or a charity of your choice.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence for the family.
