Obituary of Debra Gilbert
Gilbert, Debra Anne- 65 of Mantua, passed away Saturday February 8th, 2020 in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born December 26th, 1954 in Shelburne NS, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Gloria (Newell) Hipson.
Debbie’s life journey began in Shelburne NS and then St. John’s NL, Dartmouth NS, Mosherville NS, Strathroy ONT and lastly Mantua. She spent most of her working career at Maritime Life and Canada Trust. Debbie was an artist doing various styles of painting particularly tole painting and the real joy of her life, scrapbooking with her close friends in Nova Scotia and the USA. She was an active member and volunteer of The Hants County Branch # 9 Royal Canadian Legion. During her time, she received a volunteer of the year award along with being rewarded with a life membership to The Royal Canadian Legion.
Debbie is survived by loving husband Conrad of Mantua , Son Daren (Selena) of South Rawdon , daughter Julie (Rob) of England, grandchildren Bergen and Abbey of South Rawdon, sisters Nonie Williams (Ed) and Julie Dedrick of Shelburne, Peggy Spurr of Shelburne, Lucy Stuart (Richard), Theresa Bower (Darrell) of Shelburne , Andrea Hipson (Corey Benoit) and Kim Williams (Troy) of Bridgewater, brothers Gordie (Janie) of Halifax, Lloyd (Claudia) of British Columbia and Johnny (Rachel) of Bridgewater and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place with no visitation by request. A Legion service followed by a Celebration of Life will be held in the upstairs of the Legion Branch # 9 in Windsor at 12pm on Sunday February 16th, 2020. A private family burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Salvation Army or charity of choice.
