David Roy 2020

David Alexander Roy, age 73 of Pine Lake, Bayfield passed away at home on April 9, 2020. Born in Prestwick, Scotland, son of the late Hugh and Jean (Reid) Roy. Dave owned and operated Dave’s Collision and Repair in Varna for 40 years.
Beloved husband for 52 years of Bonnie. Loving father of Laura Boogemans (Mark), Doug Roy (Dee) and Dennis Roy (Erin). Grandfather of Nicholas Boogemans, Kelli Kiss (Mike), Victoria Roy, Chelsea Roy, Kayla Roy, Maitland Roy and Dawson Roy. Brother of Donald Roy (Lynn). Dave was a proud fire fighter for 27 years for the Brucefield Fire Department, retiring as the chief in 2013. He recently retired after eight years as Councillor of Stanley East in Bluewater.
In his free time Dave enjoyed his vintage cars and Studebaker collection and was passionate about sailing, tractors, airplanes and remote control boats. In recent years Dave and Bonnie enjoyed traveling with friends and making new friends on their journeys wherever they went. Dave will be remembered for his devotion to community, love of good friends and neighbours and for being a joker with a huge heart.
Cremation will take place with interment at Baird’s Cemetery, Brucefield. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held in the future and announced at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Clinton Public Hospital through the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford. 519.271.7411www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
