David Giffin 2020

David Giffin was born in Gananoque Ontario on 18 August 1931 to the late Robert and Matilda Giffin. He was the oldest of 3 sons. He died peacefully on 14 August 2020 at Victoria General Hospital in Victoria British Columbia.
A loving husband to the late Rhylla for 65 years, father to Deborah and Brent, grandfather to 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. David had a remarkably interesting life, growing up in Gananoque he worked on the Boat lines and he obtained his pilot license at an early age. He attended Paul Smith College in New York, returning to Canada to join the Canadian Army as an Officer. While Stationed in CFB Rivers, Manitoba, he obtained his wings. He travelled with his family early in life and they had many adventures. David retired as a Captain and started a career in Financial Services, settling in Mississauga Ontario before moving to British Columbia in 1978 and finally settling in Qualicum Beach.
He loved to travel, RVing and enjoyed reading quietly while enjoying the ocean views from their back deck. Dave and Rhylla moved to Victoria, completing their life in recent years with frequent visits with family and friends. David lived a long life and often commented on how he felt his life could not have been better. He will be missed by all his family and the people that he touched throughout his life.
