DAVID FULGENCIO MONIZ
March 9, 1935 –
July 27, 2020
It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our adored Husband, Father, Avo, Brother, Uncle and Great Uncle. He was born in Lomba da Maia, Sao Miguel, Azores. He peacefully passed away in the hospital the morning of July 27, 2020. He has left a terrible hole in our hearts.
David was the beloved husband to Maria Isabel (nee Pavao) for 61 extraordinary years. Loving father to his daughter, Luisa (Richard) and his son, Paul (Susy). Beloved Avo to his 3 wonderful grandchildren, Brandon, Megan, and Kayla.
Dear brother of the late Manuel, Evaristo, Maria, Maria Jose Serafim, Deniz and Mariano. He will be greatly missed by his relatives, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and friends from around the world.
His home and family were his pride and joy. We will miss our quiet and humble leader. He taught his children the value of hard work and saving by example. He came to Canada on June 22, 1959 and worked in construction as a bricklayer helper. In his spare time he loved his vegetable garden, flowerbeds, his small vineyard, his fruit trees and especially his roses. He had an incredible ability to make anything grow. When the weather was good you could find him outside either working in his garden or sitting and enjoying the fruits of his labour. When the weather was cold you could find him in front of the television watching hockey. He was never afraid of doing any tasks from carpentry to plumbing to everything in between.
David loved to travel the world with his beloved wife Maria Isabel. They travelled throughout Canada, Europe, and the Caribbean. He never missed an opportunity to go to Vegas.
David enjoyed large family gatherings from his children’s birthday parties to his grandchildren’s birthday parties. A great family gathering was good food and a game of cards or dominoes. He loved having the whole family at his piece of land in Wasaga Beach that he had bought in 1969.
He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
