Dave passed away at his home in St. John’s at the age of 59. He is predeceased by his parents William and Mabel from Charlottetown, Bonavista Bay. Left to mourn and celebrate his life in memory are: his five brothers – Ralph (Bonnie), Kevin, Warren (Gwen), Paul and Michael (Lauren); his nieces, nephews, grand niece and grand nephews – Joanne (Andrew, Logan), Michelle (Matthew), Melissa (Kyren), Michael (Megan, Lily, Austin), Jeffery, Nathan, Emily, Erin (Aziz), Benjamin (Shonna, Landon) and his Aunt Annie (Walt and family). He will also be missed by many other relatives, former girlfriends and numerous friends.
Dave began his career working for the Hudson’s Bay Company in Moosonee, Northern Ontario where he acquired his dog Scratch, the true friend of his life. He and Scratch spent many happy times together. Dave’s passion and true talent was in the field of carpentry. Over the years, he worked and travelled across the country from coast to coast. He always had many exciting tales to tell about his travels and the friends he met along the way. Another passion was Newfoundland and he would always return to his roots. He was quite proud of his Newfoundland heritage and would defend it to the very end. Dave enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. Camping and paddling in a canoe were cherished moments for him. We will always remember his wit and his ability to tell a good joke.
Funeral services will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, March 7th at Emmanuel United Church, Charlottetown.
I’m a Newfoundlander born and bred and I’ll be one till I die. I’m proud to be an Islander and here’s the reason why. I’m free as the wind and the waves that wash the sand. There’s no place I would rather be than here in Newfoundland.
