At Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, December 10, 2020. David Carson Birtwistle in his 80th year, was the beloved husband of Patricia (Cremasco) Birtwistle. He was the loving father of Deanna Birtwistle and Jo-Anne Friend and her husband David. David was the proud grandfather of Daniel and Olivia. He was the dear brother of John Birtwistle (Diana) and Peter Birtwistle (Judith). Survived by nieces and nephews.
David was a retired Major who served in the Canadian Military for 30 years. He was on City Council with the City of Guelph from 2000 – 2006 and was an active volunteer with The Canadian Red Cross and with Meals on Wheels.
Private cremation has taken place. Due to Covid – 19, a Celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date. Interment of ashes in St. Boniface Cemetery, Maryhill. As expressions of sympathy donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated by the family.
