Obituary – David Bruce Whidden
Whidden, David Bruce, passed way suddenly, but peacefully, on June 20, 2020, at his home in Richmond, B.C., at the age of 75.
He will be lovingly remembered his wife Susan, sister Barb (Arlee), sons Doug (Jess, and son Callum), Chris (Michelle, and son Landon), David (Diana, and daughters Haley and Megan), and Owen.
Dave’s career was long and diverse (and full of stories). He retired in 2005. In his early life he travelled the world as a proud member of the Meraloma Rugby Club, “Once a Loma. Always a Loma”. The “Orange and Black” continued to course his veins until his last day.
In retirement, Dave and Susan took a lot of road trips across Canada and into the US. Their kids and grandkids played a large part in the travel – cheering from the sidelines at countless sporting events, to graduation ceremonies. Dave adored his kids and grandkids and shared special bonds with all of them – those close, and those that lived across the country.
In his final years, Dave was well cared for by the team at the Richmond Community Dialysis Unit and the St. Paul’s Unit. The depth of warmth and care he received, at all levels, over the last 3+ years will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the British Columbia chapter of the Kidney Foundation – kidney.ca
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
