David’s Obituary
KEDDY, David Allison ~ 75, Dempsey Corner, Kings Co., passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on April 9, 1945, in Berwick, he was a son of the late Lorimer A. and Hilda F. (Welton) Keddy. David grew up in Auburn, and left home at the age of 17, moving to Ontario, where he held various jobs. He later worked for 10 years at Oakville Glass & Mirror for his mentor and friend, Dieter Ringler. David returned to Nova Scotia and owned and operated Valley Glass and Mirror Ltd., Aylesford, for 40 years. He was a baseball fan and sponsored the Valley Glass and Mirror Co-ed team. David was a devoted member and past master (2015-2016) of Harmony Lodge No. 52, A.F. & A.M., Aylesford, often visiting others lodges in the district. He loved country music, listening to it daily and many times could be heard singing along. David was known for storytelling, often in great detail. He rebuilt a 1964 Comet and a 1956 Crown Vic and in later years loved time spent hunting & golfing. David could be found at the cottage in Morden during the summer months, mowing the grass and watching beautiful sunsets with Brenda. He travelled to Inuvik, NWT, in 1994 to assist his lifelong friend, Bryan Thomas. David along with his brother-in-law took a trip of a lifetime in 2016 to China. Surviving are loving and caring spouse of 32 years, Brenda Lowe; daughter, Tammy Keddy, Brampton, Ont.; son, Donald “DJ” Keddy, Aylesford; grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsay, Liam, Kaylynn, Jaydon, Cohen and Matthew; great grandsons, Carson and Cameron; step son, Justin (Krystal) Lowe, Orilla, Ont.; step grandchildren, Parker and Claire;siblings, Dale (Nan) Keddy, Lady Smith, B.C.; Linda Keddy, Stuart, Fla.; Sharon (Robert) Buchanan, Aylesford; John (Sheri) and Gary Keddy, both of Morden; Larry (Dawn) Keddy, Auburn; Terry (Fran) Keddy, Benita Springs, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; former father-in-law, Fred (Jean Davin) Lutz, Milton, Ont. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sons, Jason Pierce, David Timothy Keddy and one in infancy; grandson, Nicholas Keddy. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service beginning with a masonic lodge tribute will start at 2 p.m., Sunday, August 9, in Aylesford Union Cemetery, with Rev. Michael Fredericks officiating. A time in celebration of David’s life will take place at a later date. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
