James David Arthur Alexander, B.Sc
B.Ed. M.Ed.
September 13, 1977 –
November 3, 2020
Teaching was his life, learning was
his passion.
Our beloved son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend passed
away November 3rd, 2020 after a valiant battle with
cancer.
David enjoyed a career teaching in many communities across
the country with stops in New Brunswick, Manitoba, Saskatchewan,
British Columbia, the Northwest Territories and
Nunavut. At the time of his passing, David was a
distance education student through Memorial University of St.
John’s Newfoundland and Labrador. He was
finalizing plans for pursuit of a Doctorate Degree which was one of
his many lifelong goals. He was also a Teacher,
Guidance Counsellor and Administrator with the Frontier School
Division out of Moose Lake, Manitoba.
David was a passionate fan of many
sports. When back in Nova Scotia for the summers,
he would often fly to wherever the Saskatchewan Roughriders were
playing to attend games. He was an avid candlepin
bowler out of the Heather Lanes in New Glasgow, winning a major title
in the late nineties. Travel had become a major
part of his life. He journeyed throughout North
America by road, air and rail visiting many places along the
way. He was a long-time member of the Royal
Canadian Legion.
He is survived by his Mother, Mary Tye (Everett McCullough),
Brother Dann Alexander (Cheryl), Step-Siblings Lori Matthews (Andrew),
Carson McCullough (Marie), Janna McCullough, Aunt and Uncle Shelley
and Clifford Tye, several Cousins, Step-Nieces and
Step-Nephews. He was predeceased by his Sister
Meghan in infancy, Grandparents George and June Tye, William and Mary
Alexander, Father Arthur Adams Alexander, Aunt Shirley Tye-Fraser,
Uncle Teddy Tye and trusted canine companions Blue and
Baby.
Cremation and committal service have taken
place. If anyone wishes, donations can be made in
David’s memory to the Pictou County
SPCA.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the VON, Dr.
Peter Lee, the Palliative Care Team and everyone at the Aberdeen and
QE2 Hospitals for their compassion and
care. Special thanks as well to the staff at
Memorial University and Frontier School
Division.
