Daryl Cedric Fraser
1959-2020
Daryl Cedric Fraser, born on January 21, 1959 in Portage la
Prairie, Manitoba, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2020 doing one
of the things he loved to do, snowmobiling with
friends.
Daryl’s working career started off with him joining the
Canadian Navy at 18 and enjoying the navy life for a few years before
going to work with Michelin Canada for 20 years. At that point in life
he was itching to be a entrepreneur and business man. Daryl and his
wife Kelly together, they became Subway franchisees and for the past
25 years have owned and operated four stores in Nova Scotia. Daryl,
always civic minded, was an active member of the Coldbrook Community
Association.
Daryl had many varied interests. He loved technology, always
interested in the newest and fastest way to do business of any kind.
He had recently become a proud owner of a Harley Davidson motorcycle,
which was one of his lifelong dreams. He would just stand there and
look at it with a big smile on his face, he couldn’t believe he
actually owned it. And, of course, it always had to be shiny with not
a speck of dirt on it! Daryl always had a smile on his face, a story
to share and a witty saying that you always remembered. He loved
nothing more than to be with his Fraser and Bennett family, whether it
was for a big family reunion or a phone call to a brother, aunt, uncle
or cousin. For many years, Daryl and Kelly had a cottage at Sherbrook
Lake, where they have lifelong friends of the best kind, who were
always there for a laugh, a great meal, help of any kind and of course
beer! He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to call
him a friend, but especially his wife and business partner, Kelly, as
well as his best friends, Marie and Jeff.
Daryl was predeceased by his mother and father, Kathy and Fen
Fraser and mother-in-law, Jean Akin.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kelly; brothers,
Dwight (Fay), New Brunswick; Jamie, Vancouver; nieces, nephews, great
nieces and nephews; step father-in-law, John Akin; step sister-in-law,
Denise Akin; aunts, uncle and cousins.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation, by
request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at
2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2020 in the White Family Funeral
Home, Kentville. A private interment will be held at a later date.
Daryl was very close to his cousin, Margaret, who recently passed away
