Darryl’s Obituary
On October 19, 2020, the world lost a big heart, and heaven gained a gentle soul, a husband, a father, and a son, Darryl Eldridge Gardner of 64 years. Darryl leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, his wife of 40 years, Jocelyn, son; Adam (Montannah): daughters; Sarah (Tyler) and Hayley. His precious fur babies Zoey, Charlotte, Moe, and Penelope: siblings, Doreen (Don) Warden Brockville, Ontario: and Wayne (Sandra) Gardner, Chester, Nova Scotia: brother-in-law Randy Mitchell, nephews Sean Mitchell, McKenzie, Jacob, and niece Hannah (Jermey) Scholz. He now joins his father, William Harold Gardner, mother, Lenora Olive Watton, and sister, Shirley Mitchell.
Darryl was a dedicated father and husband first and paramedic second. He treasured his children and wife by embracing every moment with them. He had a vivacious personality that enabled him to bring a chuckle and a smile to everyone’s face.
In 1976, Darryl started his career as a Nursing Assistance and found his passion as a Paramedic, then spent years working for the sole purpose of helping others in every way possible. His love was demonstrated by educating others and being an outstanding Paramedic. He was recognized by his gentle and caring touch that was supplemented with his jokes and laughs. Darryl’s presence will be missed by family, friends, and the community.
The family would like to thank all the health care professionals for their continuous support throughout his journey.
At Darryl’s request cremation has taken place. A private family viewing and funeral service will be held Friday, October 23, 2020, 2pm from St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, Park Drive with Rev. Roberta Woodman officiating. Interment to follow at Townsite Anglican Cemetery, Montgomerie Street, Corner Brook.
As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or memorial donations in memory of Darryl can be made to Daffodil Place. St. John’s.
Registration for the celebration of life service is required. Please contact stmichaels@nf.aibn.com or 632-5688, leaving your name and phone number for contact tracing. Masks are required to be worn until everyone is seated, during the singing of hymns, and on exit.
