Obituary
Danny Larry Wasylyshyn
March 19, 1943 – March 13, 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Danny Larry Wasylyshyn on March 13, 2020. Danny passed peacefully after a long battle with dementia that slowly took our fun loving, caring, giving and very special man from our lives.
Danny was born on March 19, 1943 in Yorkton Saskatchewan to parents Nick and Anne Wasylyshyn. Danny will be lovingly remembered by his wife Rosemary of 54 years, sons David (Susan), Jason (Shawna), and grandchildren Cole, Daniel, Noah, Helena, Joshua and Anna. He is also survived by brothers Fred (Ruth), Peter, and his Uncle Bill (Mary) Dymianiw along with many cousins, nephews and nieces. Danny also had a very close and loving relationship with his wife’s family.
Danny was raised on the family farm by Gorlitz, SK until the age of 14 when his family moved to Saskatoon and he attended Bedford Road Collegiate. At the age of 18 he started working for the Royal Bank in the Town of Qu’Appelle, with stints in Arcola and North Battleford before returning to Saskatoon to work for the Saskatoon Credit Union. Danny married Rosemary (Yakiwchuk) in 1965, had sons David (1968) and Jason (1973). He worked for the Credit Union in many capacities for 20 years before working at Murdoch & Maber Real Estate for 10 years and in the process making many lifelong friends. Danny returned to the Credit Union for the remainder of his career prior to his retirement in 2000.
Danny loved many things in life including playing cards, golfing, hockey, fishing, the Riders, and spending time at the cabin at Emma Lake. He was very giving with his time as he enjoyed volunteering at the Brier, fastball tournaments and in many roles with his children’s activities. Danny was very giving and loving to his family and friends, always there to lend a hand and to help out when needed. Most of all Danny loved his grandchildren, always giving them his love and attention, wrestling with them and letting them do whatever they wanted to be happy.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations to the CNIB or the Saskatchewan Alzheimer’s Society would be greatly appreciated.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 19, 2020 at Acadia McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Drive) in Saskatoon, SK, Canada.
