Daniel Lorne Brickman, age 84 of Stratford, passed away peacefully at St. Marys Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 17, 2020. Born in Ellice Township, April 24, 1935, son of the late Charles and Ida (Dill) Brickman.
Beloved husband of Joan (Thompson), together for 58 years. Dan will be greatly missed by his son Peter and wife Erin (Swainson), along with his granddaughter Brinsley.
Survived by brother Glen (Audrey), sister Shirley (Roy Feltz), brother-in-law Jack Thompson (Loretta) and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brothers Clarence (Martha), Carl (Ruby), Cecil (Merle) and sisters Mildred (Harry Yungblut), Almeda (Delmar Smythe) and in-laws Norma and Beatrice Thompson.
Dan was the fourth generation to farm the Brickman Homestead in Ellice Township. He took pride in his Hereford cattle, enjoyed racing his horses and was an active outdoorsman. He was a faithful member of the Second St. John’s Lutheran Church, Wartburg. Dan farmed all of his life and retired to Stratford in 2005.
A thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of both St. Marys Memorial Hospital and Stratford General Hospital for their care.
Visitation for family and friends will be at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday, January 20, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 21 at Second St. John’s Lutheran Church, 4802 Line 42, Wartburg from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Pastor William Kramer will officiate. Interment in the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to St. Marys Memorial Hospital, Stratford General Hospital or Second St. John’s Lutheran Church through the funeral home. 519.271.7411 www.wgyoungfuneralhome.com
