Daisy Jean is the last of her Erickson clan, being born to Alvin & Anna Erickson. Youngest of the family, having had 7 older siblings. Also pre-deceased by Grandson Rob Spurgeon.
As an accelerated student, Daisy Jean graduated from Saskatoon Technical Collegiate and moved through the employment field with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company advancing to Supervisor, then switched careers later on becoming a valuable Church Secretary with St. David’s United Church & Trinity United Church pastoral charges, Grace-Westminster United Church, and Augustana Lutheran Church.
An avid reader, her other hobbies and interests took her from playing a mean bridge hand, to photography and flowers, many leagues of 5-pin bowling, and coaching bowling kids through YBC attaining her Masters Level Coaching Certificate.
Always a consummate volunteer, she gave freely of her time in the early years being a Sunday School Teacher to later on being one of the first tutors with READ Saskatoon teaching adults how to read. Volunteer hours have been spread out with United Church of Canada Presbytery, Canadian Bible Society, Mendel Art Gallery, Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, and the Saskatoon Jazz Society earning the moniker “Jazzy Jean” as the recognizable ‘door person’ at local jazz club The Bassment & receiving an Honorary Lifetime Membership for her tireless efforts.
Special thanks to Oliver Place Support Office workers and residents of Oliver Place for their caring support and friendship; to Patty Braden, Mom’s bath assist lady providing dignity at every step; and to Dr. A.J.
