It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernestina (Cristina) Carmela DiPietro (née Ciutti), at the age of 89, peacefully on March 1st, 2020 surrounded by family at Pioneer Manor.
Born in S. Onofrio, Italy, Cristina grew up living next door to her first and only love, Mario. She came to Canada in 1952 to join her amore and they were happily married for 68 years. Daughter of Quirino and Virginia Ciutti (predeceased). Devoted mother to Patricia (Doug) Draper, Anthony (predeceased 1997), Luciana McGaughey, Mirella DiPietro and Robert (Tamara) DiPietro. Loving sister to Tito (predeceased) (Novemia) Ciutti, and Egle (Gino, predeceased) Annibalini, Special sister-in-Law to Licia (Raymond, predeceased) Boccafurno. Adored Nonna to Melissa (Allen) Herrington, Robert (Regan), Nicholas (Jennifer), Brendan, Bradley, Kiara (Cassandra), and Dylan. Precious Nonna2 to Great Granddaughters Graycee and Molly. Cherished Aunt to nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Best friend to Lucy Kucznik and loyal friend to many.
Cristina was kind and generous. She loved flowers, gardening , and music, especially Michael Buble and Elvis but, was happiest cooking for the people she loved.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
