VOLLMERSHAUSEN, Constance Lenore – It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Connie
Vollmershausen of the rural Innerkip area, announces her passing on the eve of May 10th, 2020,
after a very short battle with cancer. In her 84th year, at her home, surrounded by family and
blanketed by love, Connie took her last breaths to the rhythm of treasured lyrics sung softly in
her ear.
She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her for her quick sense of humour,
her love of music, her gift at the piano, and her always infectious smile. Connie’s dedication
and loyalty to her family and friends will be remembered always through the many memories
she made with them. There will be even more music in heaven now as Connie and her brother
Carl Burgess (1943 – 2016) celebrate together on the keys. Sunday mornings were filled with
music accompanied by Connie at United Churches in Innerkip, Eastwood, Windfall, Bright and
most recently, Plattsville’s Peace. Over the years Connie enjoyed choir singing, bowling,
knitting, and rug hooking, but nowhere did she ever ‘cut a rug’ like she and her husband Doug
would whenever they took to the dance floor.
“Nana Connie” or “Gramma Grizz” will be forever remembered as a dedicated nurturer to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren,as well as any other children who would be lucky enough to visit the farm. She and her husband Douglas Henery Vollmershausen began raising a family and building a
successful business in 1960 at the Vollmershausen Family Farm and through their hard work,
sweat, and dedication, provided a growing environment for their three children: Brian
Vollmershausen of Woodstock, Betty Ford of Innerkip and Larry (Cathy) Vollmershausen of
Bright. This loving home was also a place of caring for their grandchildren: Derek, Tanya, Nick
(Michele), Trav (Kasey), Desiree, Tyler (Courtney), Mitch (Ashley) and Kerstin. Greatgrandchildren: Georgia, Tessa, Jaxson, Blaire and Parker will sadly miss their Nana as well as Derian (and Noah), Ethan, Julia and Izzie of B.C. Connie was born in 1936 to Lenore Hilderley of Innerkip who later married Harry Burgess. Connie is survived by her sister Sheran Burgess of
Simcoe and her nieces Kelly Hurley (Brantford) and Robin Ripski (Paris) as well as nephew Jason
Ripski (Brantford).
A Celebration of Life will be organized the moment COVID-19 restrictions
are lifted. Donations to VON Sakura House in Connie’s memory would be greatly appreciated and
may be arranged through the SMITH-LeROY FUNERAL HOME, 69 Wellington St North, Woodstock (519-537-3611). Personal condolences may be sent at www.smithleroy.com
