Obituary
Sprott, Claude Nelson. It is with great sadness, that the family of Claude Nelson Sprott of Hoyt, announce his passing at Hospice House, Fredericton on December 18, 2019. Claude was born in Norton, NB on November 12, 1932 to the late Mary Neilson and Martin Sprott.
Claude was a long-haul truck Driver. He started to work for G.T. Moore in 1956 and in 1959 the company name changed to Sunbury Transport. In 1968 he was the first owner-operator for Sunbury Transport. In 1969 his wife Shirley started driving truck and they drove together until they retired in 2002 with 3.5 million accident-free miles. They achieved many recognitions as owner-operator of the year from Sunbury Transport and owner-operator of the year from the Atlantic Province Trucking Association. Through the years they traveled every province in Canada and all but 3 states of the U.S.
Claude is survived by his sons: Claude Jr (Kathy) Lake George, John (Kelly) Hoyt, sister Neva Whittaker (Allen) Grand Prairie AB, brother Reid Sprott of Sus, son-in-law Paul Underwood of Hoyt, eight grandchildren,15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Claude is also predeceased by his wife Shirley (Liddell) daughter Anne Underwood, two sisters, Ina Robinson, Jean Armstrong, two brothers, Guy and Martin Family and friends are invited for a Graveside Service at the Blissville Cemetery on May 15, 2020 at 1pm. Donations may be made in memory of Claude to the Fredericton Hospice House.
