Obituary of Christabel Phyllis Weatherbee
Weatherbee, Christabel “Phyllis” – 83 of Granville Ferry, formerly of Wolfville, passed away December 3, 2020 in the Annapolis Community Health Centre, Annapolis Royal. Born in Viewmount, Kings County, she was the daughter of the late Clement and Olive (Hirtle) Irwin.
Phyllis was a person who welcomed anyone into her home, friend or stranger, and always made them feel welcome, usually offering them a cup of tea, that she loved so dearly.
She enjoyed being with people and was always involved in a variety of activities. She spent time teaching Brownies and was an avid Bingo player, often lucky to the point where her children said she should do it professionally.
Like her sister, Phyllis was very competitive in any game that she played and if you beat her you really earned it. She instilled a sense of competitiveness in her children at a very young age, teaching them that you had to work hard.
Phyllis was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #3 in Miramichi (Chatham) N.B. where she also played darts in the ladies’ league. For many years Phyllis worked as an AVON representative, a job where she excelled at due to her love of talking to people.
She enjoyed reading, making ceramics and being with her family.
Phyllis is survived by her sons, Clifford (Darlene), Miramichi, Blair (Linda), New Minas, Alan (Wanda), Annapolis Royal, Darrell (Betty-Ann), Glenwood; daughter Brenda (Sandy)MacPherson, Miramichi; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harris Margerson Weatherbee; sisters Phillis Loretta, in infancy, and Sylvia Harriet Brewster.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of the Kaulbach Family Funeral Home, Annapolis Royal. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a service held in the spring. Donations in Phyllis’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.kaulbachfamilyfuneralhome
