Chloe Ann Wellman December 13 2003 October 19 2020

Obituary
It is with profound sorrow, and immeasurable grief, that we announce the passing of Chloe Ann Wellman on Monday, October 19, 2020 at the age of 16. The eldest child of Jeff & Angela Wellman and big sister to Brooke and Owen. Chloe is the loving grandchild of Cheryl & Larry Toms, Kathy Herron & John smith, Wayne Risto & Sue Kearsey and Larry Wellman. She is the cherished niece and cousin of Annette & Andrew Murray, their daughters Isabel and Charlotte, Jason Risto, Sherri & Chris Forestell, their daughters Samantha and Regan, Michael Wellman and his children Briar and Jacob, Matt & Keri-Lyn Toms and their children Mason, Hewitt, Angus and Dylan.
In 2014, the Wellman clan returned to their home community to ensure their children would grow up enjoying and benefiting from the love and support of their family and friends and a welcoming community.
Chloe was always excited to experience new challenges and quickly adapted to a new school, making friends easily. She thrived and excelled particularly through her love of reading and her involvement in the Girl Guides. Rarely did you see Chloe without a book in her hand using every opportunity to finish just one more page. Her thirst for knowledge bode well and she was recognized at her 2017 grade 8 graduation from Hillcrest Public School French Immersion as an Honour student with numerous awards. But, it was her involvement in the Girl Guides that truly began her developing into the beautiful young woman she was. From Sparks to Rangers, Chloe was encouraged to meet new people, learn more about herself and her abilities, and to put her leadership skills into action. She embraced their mission, and in 2018, Chloe was awarded the highest award, the Canada Cord. Mentoring other young women came naturally to her.
“I promise to do my best and be true to myself”
In 2019, Chloe was one of three Campbellford District High School students chosen to take part in the 75th Anniversary of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy. It was such a memorable event, a highlight of her life, traveling to Rome, Paris, Amsterdam, and Belgium. Chloe loved the Belgium food but not the chocolate! This sparked her thirst for future travel.
Hard work was no stranger to Chloe from loading wood at home, babysitting, working at the local arena and to her most recent job at Master Sub. Working resulted in a sense of accomplishment, pride and a wee bit of financial freedom. She purchased her first car and was taking Young Driver’s classes.
Chloe’s music tastes were eclectic from Queen, Green Day, Brad Paisley to AC/DC. She loved 80’s films, vintage clothing, fishing, Star Wars, and could kick anybody’s butt at Harry Potter trivia.
But most importantly, Chloe was a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, cousin and a loyal, caring and compassionate friend.

  1. My thoughts and prayers are with Chloe’s family at this time. I was lucky to know Chloe during our time at Girl Guides and also as classmates who bonded over our shared love of Harry Potter and art. She was such an incredible and kind person. May your memory be a blessing Chloe.
