Obituary of Charles Ernest Jay
Peacefully, with his beloved wife of 65 years Thelma Louise (nee Penman) by his side, Charles Ernest Jay passed away at the age of 93.
Son of the late William and Ada Jay (nee Colliver).
Beloved father of Mary Lou (Ken) Brown, Cindy (Brian) Gosnell, and the late Wayne Charles Jay.
Deeply missed by his grandchildren Jason (Beth) Brown, Curtis (Susana) Brown, Alisha (John) Travnicek, Danielle Gosnell, David (Amy) Jay, and Emily Jay (Dominic). Great grandfather to Kayla, Sloan, Conner, Jackson, Isavel, Klarissa, and Douglas.
Charles was predeceased by his siblings Stan Jay, Clarence Jay, Gladys Bailey, Doris Smith, and Mildred Congo.
Charles farmed for many years, up until the age of 77. He was an active church member, and enjoyed many years with the Ridgetown Rod & Gun Club.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tomen and the many caring staff at Copper Terrace for their care and concern.
Friends will be received at the Funeral Home, 76 Main Street East, Ridgetown, on the evening of Monday, June 29th, 2020. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, those hoping to attend the visitation must schedule a time online at signup.com/go/rGtHcXv or by phone at 519-674-3141. No one will be permitted at the visitation without a scheduled time. The Bereavement Authority of Ontario has mandated that everyone in attendance must wear a mask.
A Private Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday afternoon. Interment to follow in Duart Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Charles may be made, payable by cheque, to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.
