Our beloved Charlie passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at the age of 56. Forever gone, never forgotten. It is hard to find words to describe such a beautiful soul. He found joy in everything around him and always took the time to talk to everyone he met. Charlie (aka Chuck to some) loved cooking, rockabilly music, vintage cars, trains, aircrafts and most of all, stream trout fishing! He was never happier than coming out of the bush, covered in bug bites, carrying a stringer of tasty trout for dinner.
Charlie is predeceased by his parents, Bucky and Cora Buchanan; beloved aunt, Ina Head; brother-in-law, Jim Church and mother-in-law, Ellie Church. He is survived by his two daughters, Lexi Buchanan of Huntsville, ON and Lauren Buchanan and her family (Alex Degleman, Winnifred) of Thunder Bay, ON; his sister and family Debbie (Ken, Marie) Christianson of Duncan, BC; brother-in-law, Wayne Church of Banff, AB; father-in-law, Lloyd Church of Canmore, AB; step-daughter, Nicole Croteau (Neil Ferguson) of Victoria BC; step-son, Matthew Croteau of Calgary, AB and his beloved “brother from another Mother!”, Joe (Marisol) Viveiros of Barrie, ON.
Charles, Charlie, Chuck- family, friends and his business associates in the aviation world knew him by one of these but regardless of which name you knew him by, without a doubt, he touched each life in a different way with his honesty, friendship and caring. He will be sadly missed by all. He will be forever missed by his soulmate, Sandra Croteau. Chuck and Sandra were high school sweethearts and although it took 30 years to find each other again, they did, and the past 4 years have been unforgettable and will be cherished forever. Chuck was an amazing man who will always be Sandra’s best friend, idol and inspiration in every facet of life!
Sandra and Charlie came to PEI three summers ago and fell in love with the place and the people. They came back each year for as long as they could and chose to make Souris West their permanent home with the building of their dream home this spring. The family has requested to have no services at this time. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to the Souris and Area Branch of the PEI Wildlife Federation.
