Charles Arthur James Murray
June 10, 1953 – November 16, 2020
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Charles Arthur James Murray announce his sudden passing on November 16, 2020, at the age of 67.
Charles, most commonly known as, “Charlie” or “Chuck”, was born in Toronto, Ontario on June 10, 1953 to Josephine (McDougall) Murray and Arthur David Murray. He grew up in Oakville, Ontario with his sisters, Marjorie, Charlotte and Linda. He graduated from Purdue high school and went on to do a course in Cartooning at Sheridan College. Throughout his adult life he loved to travel and moved to live in England for some time. He came to settle down back in Canada where he met the woman of his dreams Helena VandenBoom, and they had two beautiful daughters.
Everyone who knew Charlie knew his biggest joy in life was being a Father to his daughters Annie and Carrie. He was so proud and was always showing them off to everyone. His favourite nights were the “freezer frenzie” family movie nights, cuddled up in the basement with all the snacks. He loved and cared so deeply, and only ever wanted the best life for them. His daughters were with him in his final moments, which would have been his wish.
Charlie always loved his trucks and cars. His truck was his other pride and joy, his other baby. We remember being picked up from the bus stop when we were younger, and riding in the cab of the truck. He loved doing fun things with us kids. Charlie loved his sisters and always protected them. He loved doing karaoke and dancing around in the kitchen with Linda. He enjoyed his beers! He loved relaxing, playing some scrabble and just “having a cold one”. One of his favourite memories was going up to the cottage with the boys. He was a very funny guy, full of stories and always making jokes. Making people laugh was a big thing. He was very passionate about airplanes and history. The Avro Arrow was his favourite, and he could talk for hours on end. He was a very proud Canadian and loved everything about Canada.
Charlie was always a very hard worker; a Jack of all trades. From England to Canada he worked a wide variety of jobs. From a taxi driver to a firefighter, working a long stint at Duracell Batteries and then finishing his working career at General Electric. He was a very loyal and dedicated employee throughout his entire life, no matter what job. He has received recognition for being the best employee and always worked his way up in the company. We will always remember the GE Christmas Parties, and all the fun we had.
Charlie is survived by his loving daughters, Annie Murray (Andre Thompson) and Carrie Murray, his wife Helena Murray; loving sisters Linda Lynch (George Barrick), Charlotte Murray and Marjorie Curran.
He will be sincerely missed and forever in our hearts.
