CHARLENE SCOTT (CHAL)
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved life partner, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt and friend Charlene Scott on July 30, 2020.
She was predeceased by her mother Bernice Potoski, father James Scott, mother and father-in-law Doreen and Roland Lea, sisters-in-law Marilyn and Brenda. Charlene leaves to mourn her life partner Doyle Lea, sons Jamie (Karla), Devin (Tasha), granddaughters Aaliyah and Kinley, step father Mike Potoski, siblings Carolyn (Ed), Gator (Gail), Corinna (Kevin) and Jimmy, in-laws Debbie, Stan, Donna (Jeff), Tim (Kim), numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, coffee buddies Virginia, Wanda, Susie, and Kim, and bingo buddy Sharon.
Charlene was born in Winnipeg September 9, 1963. She grew up in the Interlake and settled on Matheson Island after she met Doyle. They started their life together and raised their sons Jamie and Devin. Charlene spent the majority of her life as a commercial fisherwoman and was an educational assistant at Matheson Island School for the past 10 years. Becoming a grandmother was the highlight of her life. She adored her granddaughters. Charlene made every moment with them special.
Charlene was the matriarch of her family. She loved to entertain and could always be found in the kitchen baking delicious treats or cooking family feasts. She loved to play cards and board games. She was happiest when her house was full of family and friends. She always made a point to reach out to all of her loved ones to check in on a regular basis. She was a generous, kind and loving woman who always put everyone’s needs and desires before her own. She left her mark on everyone’s heart and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to send a special thank you to those who were with Charlene in her final moments. An invitational private family viewing will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Gilbart’s Funeral Home in Selkirk. If you wish to pay your final respect you may do so following the family viewing from 3:00-4:00 pm. A celebration of Charlene’s life will be held Friday, August 7, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Doyle’s residence in Matheson Island. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in memory of Charlene to the Diabetes Foundation of Manitoba.
