Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Changiz “Chuck” Gorjizadeh which occurred unexpectedly on Monday, October 19, 2020. Born in Iran on September 30, 1963 he is the son of Gheidafeh (Habibi) Gorjizadeh and the late Shokrollah Gorjizadeh. In addition to his father he was predeceased by his sister Shabab Gorjizadeh.
Chuck was well known in the north end owning and operating Smart Choice Variety for 28 years. He was a very giving person always putting people before himself. He arrived in Canada on Halloween and what a culture shock that was for him! He grew to love and adapted quickly to his new home in this country. It became tradition that the starting point for many children in the community started their trick or treating at his store.
He was actively involved with the North End Food Bank, One Change and many organizations throughout the community. He will be greatly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife Shelley (Lomax) of 26 years, by his son Shawn Ekstrom; daughters Marissa and Carlee; brothers Iraj (Kobra) and Gholam (Parisa); sisters Shekoofeh (Fardin), Nooshin, Tooran, Pouran, Mahnaz and Mehrnaz; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Sunday, October 25th between the hours of 2 and 6 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 26th at 2 p.m.
Due to the pandemic, masks are required and social distancing practices will be observed.

Following the Celebration of Life, a funeral procession will depart the Fundy Funeral Home towards Smart Choice Variety for Chuck’s final pass by.
Interment will take place in Sus, NB. Donations in memory of Chuck may be made to the War Amps, The One Change Inc., Rivercross Church or the Muslim Association of New Brunswick.
