Catherine Kay Gilbert 19412020

Catherine (Kay) Gilbert
1941-2020
Catherine (Kay) Gilbert of Turtle Creek, passed away on
February 6, 2020 at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Moncton
she was the daughter of the late Leandre and Ida (Landry)
Melanson.
Before losing her eyesight, Kay adored bowling, making jigsaw
puzzles, and solving cryptograms. For many years leading up to her
passing, she collected Christmas figurines and delighted in setting up
a Christmas village during the holidays. Even after her eyesight
started failing, she continued the tradition as long as she could. Not
even blindness slowed her interest in politics and she never hesitated
to call a politician when she saw a need. She was known for her love
of conversation, bird watching, and red shoes.
Kay will be dearly missed by her husband Lloyd (of 61 years)
; daughters Christine (Gary) Peters, Michelle (Frank) Bekkering; son
Charles Gilbert; sister Lillian (Bob) Arsenault; brothers John (Vicky)
Melanson, Joseph Henri (Maxine) Melanson; grandchildren Brandy,
Chrissy, Michael, Amanda; greatgrandchildren Rowan, Jeremy, Jaden and
many nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Kay’s life will be held on
Monday, February 10, 2020 at Cobb’s Funeral Home at 2:00
pm. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated by her
family. Online condolences may be expressed
