It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Catherine (Kaddie) Ann Graham of Judique, on May 30, 2020. Born on July 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Daniel & Cecilia (MacDougall) Gillis. The late Elizabeth and Allan MacDonald raised her. Kaddie rose above the loss of both her parents and guardians to become a strong and spirited woman.
She always had a smile and a story to tell to help others through their day. Her quick wit and love of life helped her appreciate and enjoy all that would come her way. Her Sunday dinners and homemade biscuits were in high demand. Kaddie had a considerable love for children; her great squeezes were often sought out. If you wanted a candy, you knew who to visit. Known for her natural luck, she enjoyed her games of chance. There wasn’t a bingo game, lotto, pull-ticket, or draw of cards that she would give up. Kaddie had a love of harness racing and was looking forward to seeing the horse named after her, Kaddie Mae, race in 2020. Rest assured, there would be a bet on “Trapper”. When she entered the Inverary Manor four years ago, she (we) had no idea the wonderful extended family she would find there. Everyone at the Manor treated her so well. She spoke highly of the CCA’s, residents, nurses, janitorial, maintenance, and cafeteria staff; they made her feel at home. Her favourite saying was, “They treat me, Grand.”
Kaddie is survived by her seven children, Tommy (Debby), Allan (Vi), David (Donna), Nancy (Sam), all of Judique, Norma, Port Hood, Nora, Calgary, and Kenny (Shauna), Ottawa. She will be dearly missed by her 15 grandchildren, Garret (Meghan), Hillary (Stephen), Kelsey (Chris), Ricky (Beth), Beth (Craig), Molly (John Joe), Jesse, Keaton, Andy (Tonia), Vince, Kezi ( Taylor), Sidnie (Jeff), Colin (Amy), Anna, and Noah; great-grandchildren, Jack, Ryan, Andrew, Harrison, Emery, Graham, Jacob, Macie, Alli, Ben, Matthew, and Grace; brother and sisters-in-law, Duncan Graham, Mary Jane Mac Donald, and Jessie Gillis and many nieces and nephews who were very fond of her.
Kaddie was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Vincent Graham; infant son, Colin Roderick; brothers Johnny, Jerome (Romie), and Robert Gillis; sisters Louise Cameron and Mary MacIsaac.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Egar and all the incredible staff at Inverary Manor, Inverness. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Green’s Funeral Home, 507 Bernard St., Port Hawkesbury. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, arrangements will be made at a later date. Online condolences may be made to www.greensfuneralhome.ca
Memorial donations may be made to Inverary Manor, Inverness, St Andrews’ Parish, Judique, or charity of choice.
