Passed away peacefully with her family by her side, at her home away from home in Portugal Cove on Saturday, April 18, 2020, age 68 years. Predeceased by her parents William and Frances Butt; siblings Cyril, Edmund, Mary, and Isabel; niece Sheila. Leaving to mourn are her loving husband Joseph; sons Rodney (Jill) and Jason; grandson, whom she cherished more than life itself, Logan; siblings Stella (Tom), Theresa, Angela, Joan, Austin (Betty), Rick (Maureen) and Basil (Beatrice); as well as nieces, nephews and a wonderful circle of family and friends.
She was a remarkably kind and exuberant individual who left a lasting impression on all that knew her. She had a genuinely care-free personality that was full of compassion and generosity towards everyone. Never one to complain, “I’m perfect, not a feather out of me,” was her reply when asked how she was doing. She spent her life caring for others, not only as a Nursing Assistant working in long-term care, but for her entire family. She truly was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Our hearts are broken, our lives will never be the same. However, we are blessed to be left behind with nothing but wonderful memories of a caring and beautiful person. We will smile when we think of her, we will cry when we think of her, we will laugh when we think of her, we will never forget her.
Our family would like to thank the palliative care team for all their support during this difficult time. Without you, we would not have been able to keep her exactly where she wanted to be. To the brave and considerate paramedics, nurses, doctors, and everyone who assisted in helping our beloved Kate Ann/Cathy/Mom stay comfortable, thank you.
At her request, cremation has taken place. Due to current restrictions, a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
