Obituary
With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beautiful Mom, Caroline Jane Dodd on July 1, 2020, she was 91 years young.
Mom was born and raised in Dunblane, Saskatchewan and throughout her younger years moved from Province to Province, chasing lucrative job opportunities. Eventually moving to Port Alberni, she married our Dad, Allan Dodd, in 1948. She was hardworking and tireless in her propensity to give, enjoying simple pleasures to the fullest. Family was Mom’s main event, she loved regular visits from family and friends, always spoiling us with her baked goodies and making the time together a special memory for us. Mom raised four daughters, all of whom love her dearly. In the later years, Mom was an active, twenty-five plus years, member of the Echo Sunshine Club, volunteering and bringing smiles to all that she met.
She is survived by her two daughters, “Jo” Marlene and husband, Phil Woodfin and “Aury” AuraLee Charette and Derrick Nykorak, along with several nieces, nephews and extended family. Mom’s greatest joys are her seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, spending as much time as she could with them.
Predeceased by her husband, our Dad, Allan Dodd (2015) and daughters, Shawnee Alana (2010) and Maurie Rose(1975), we take comfort knowing there is a long-awaited reunion occurring in Mom’s honour.
We would like to extend our appreciation to the staff at Echo Village who treated all of us, especially our Mom, with great care and compassion.
In honour of Mom’s wishes, we will be celebrating her life privately as a family. If you wish, a donation to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
