Carol’s Obituary
COMEAU, Carol Ann – It is with great sadness that we say goodbye today to Carol Ann Comeau (The Hot Dog Lady). She passed away, December 3rd, 2020, in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia at the age of 60, born in Tupper Lake, New York, on August 20th 1960. Carol will be missed by many friends that she made throughout the years. She became good friends with Claire Usher, Paulette Mitchell and Rita Harvey in 1992, and she started residing with Claire in 1994-95, and became part of the family. Eventually, she started to go to school with CEMCSA and also became a coach for Special Olympics. She helped coach softball, Master (track and field) floor hockey and bowling. Those were very proud moments for her. While she was at CEMCSA, there was a program that was developed that that enabled the students to learn life skills and that is when she started working the hot dog cart, and until last year, she always worked that cart. Whether it be on the warf. At the exhibition, by the clock on Main Street, or at the Canadian Tire. You were sure to find Carol selling foot long hot dogs at the cart. She was always there to help any organization that needed a helping hand. She also worked full time on the cart and every 2nd Thursday, she went to work for the Lions Club. She also volunteered with Claire and Donny at the Knights of Columbus/Ceramic Village/Ushers Moving Services. On special holidays people knew that Carol would come around door to door selling a variety of items. She did that for many years. Over the years she was seen many times riding in the truck with Donny Usher, who also recently passed away. She enjoyed playing bingo and going to hockey games (Go Mariners Go). She also loved her Tim Horton’s. She was a companion, a friend, an employee, but she was also family to Claire, Paulette and Rita. She will be dearly missed by all her extended family, and by the many friends that she made throughout the years. She will remain in our hearts forever. Visitation will take place at 1 p.m., Thursday December 10th, at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth following with a funeral service at 2 p.m, at Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Yarmouth, with Rev. James Augden officiating. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, seating may be limited at the funeral home, social distancing guidelines must be followed and masks are mandatory. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the J Strong Fund. You may sign the online guestbook by visiting www.huskilson.net
