It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carmela “Lina” in her 66th year. Surrounded by her loving family, she slipped into eternal rest on December 11, 2020 after a courageous battle. Cherished wife of Roberto Ciofani to whom she was faithfully married for over 44 years and devoted mother of Rob and Lisa. Beloved daughter of Carmelina and the late Calogero “Charlie” Ippolito. Predeceased by her sister Mary Wegner. She leaves behind brother-in-law Alfred Wegner and sister Luisa and brother-in-law Gordon Faulkner. Predeceased by parents-in-law Giuseppe and Carmela Rosa Ciofani. Sister-in-law of Rocco and the late Margaret Ciofani, the late Concetta and Nicolo Visentini, Anselmo and Rolande Ciofani and Beatrice and Osvaldo DelFiacco. She will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and a wide circle of friends.
Lina started her career at Westinghouse, a GE Appliances company, in 1975 and remained a dedicated employee of the company until her retirement in 2014. She collected many friends and maintained a fervent passion for innovation in appliance design during her 39 year tenure.
Lina’s priority and her focus in life was, without question, her family. She selflessly loved all family members, including extended family and close friends. She was always happy to connect over a nice espresso or chatting on her patio in the summer while reminiscing over past family events or while planning those to come. She loved bringing people together and was usually the leader in organizing family reunions or special events. Her favourite time of the week and biggest joy was on Sunday afternoon when she shared a delicious home made meal with her husband and her children.
When Lina was around, there were always a few chuckles in store as she recounted her stories or added details when others forgot to mention them; her memory for details was impeccable. Lina’s smile lit up any room and she had the most generous heart, often ready to pitch in when someone needed encouragement or a helping hand. She was the ultimate nurturer, always concerned about the safety and comfort of others and she leaves a huge hole in the hearts of all those who loved her in return.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday December 16, 2020 at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL (43 BARTON ST. E) from 4 – 8 p.m. There is a limit to the number of people who can attend the visitation, and all guests are required to RSVP on Carmela’s tribute page at www.friscolanti.com. Please wait in your vehicle until your scheduled visitation time. A private Funeral Mass and entombment will follow. Physical distancing and wearing of a mask will be mandatory at the funeral home.
If desired, donations in memory of Carmela Ciofani may be made to the Juravinski Cancer Center.
She has fought the good fight, She has finished the race, She has kept the faith. Now there is in store for her the crown of righteousness.
Rest in Peace dear wife, mother, daughter and sister. Always in our hearts. We will miss you.
