Johnson, Carl Albert
August 1, 1933 – December 20, 2020
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Carl Johnson on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at the age of 87. Carl was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Sheila Johnson (nee Clezy). He is survived by his three sons; Scott Johnson (Rebecca Lauhn-Jensen), Ross (Deb) Johnson, and Earl Johnson (Christine Harwood). He will be missed dearly by his nine grandchildren; Benjamin (Mitchell Larsen), Brady, Sydney, and Nicholas Johnson, Emily, Sarah, and Abbey Harwood-Johnson, and Isabelle and Alec Lauhn-Jensen. Carl is survived by his siblings; Elmer (Merle) Johnson, Leroy Johnson, and Elwood Jones. He was predeceased by his sister Sevie Nelson. Carl was born on August 1, 1933 in Spooner, SK. As a child, he experienced many hardships. Through his determination, work ethic, and kind heart, he overcame the many challenges life threw at him in his youth and went on to live a full life. Carl spent his career working as a heavy-duty mechanic at the Water Treatment Plant for the City of Saskatoon until his retirement in 1996. His ability to fix anything (usually with silicone) earned him the nickname “Magic Johnson” at work. Carl and Sheila were married on December 19, 1964. Shortly after, they had their three boys. The family spent summers travelling around North America, visiting friends and family with their trailer in tow. Carl will be remembered for his loving heart, charming demeanor, and story-telling. Special thanks to the kind and caring staff at Preston Park I, where Carl lived for the last two years. Thanks as well to the hard working and caring staff at our hospitals during these trying times. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan (alzheimer.ca/sk/).
