Carl E. Steeves
1939-2020
After a lengthy battle with cancer,
Carl Eugene Steeves went home to be with his Lord and Saviour on July
30, 2020 with his loving wife at his side. Carl was born on October
23, 1939 in Dawson Settlement. He was the son of the late John and
Sadie Steeves.
Carl retired from CN after 35
years of service. He lived in Hillsborough for many years where he was
a long time active member of the Valley Baptist Church serving in the
Christian Service Brigade, Awana, and as trustee and deacon. Since
moving to Riverview, he was an active member of the Gunningsville
Baptist Church serving as deacon as well as being involved in several
committees.
He enjoyed playing games,
gospel music and travelling and spent many winters in Myrtle Beach.
His happiest moments were spent with his family, especially his
grandchildren and great grandchildren. His faith, strength and gentle
nature were an inspiration to many.
He is survived by his wife of
59 years, Bonnie (Letterick) as well as sons Geoffrey (Mary), Gregory
(Margie); daughter Tracey Steeves (Ralph); grand-daughters Katelyn
Aubie (Tyson), Natalie McAleer( Richard), Erica Stewart
(Lucas); grandson Brandon; great-grandsons Blake and Micah;
sister-in-law Olive Steeves and brother-in-law John Lockwood and many
nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the last surviving member of his
immediate family. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by siblings
Thelma Savoie (Armand and first husband Herman Steeves), Janet
Douthwright (Cecil), Austin Steeves (Madeleine) and Carmen Steeves;
daughter-in-law Patricia Steeves and sister-in-law Diane
Lockwood.
The family will be receiving
friends and relatives at Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation
Center, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007) on Sunday August 2,
2020 from 2-4 pm (for seniors over 65) and from 6-8 pm for the general
public. Masks are encouraged. Due to Covid 19, a
private service will be held Monday, August 3, 2020 with Rev. Blair
Holden officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations
can be made to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Oncology Clinic and
the Moncton Pregnancy and Wellness Center of
Moncton.
