Calvert Riley Yellow Old Woman – A’tsotohkiitopi (Double Rider)
It is with great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of a Son, Brother, Uncle, cousin and friend Riley Yellow Old Woman.
Riley – A’tsotohkiitopi (Double Rider) was born on September 3, 1992 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Riley attended Chief Old Sun school in elementary, then went to Sequoia Outreach. Riley excelled in his favorite sport, Hockey where he was known as the Secret Weapon because he was so tiny, fast and quick on his skates, He was a Champion Mutton Buster and Avid Steer rider. Riley looked up to his cousin Jocko McHugh as a role model in Fancy Dancing, Jocko would dress him up in all his extra dance gear and would throw Riley out on the dance floor where he won many Championships. Riley was an original member of the Bee Society for Sundance when it was brought back to Siksika. Riley was a certified Painter and Drywaller, he also worked with Siksika Public Works. Riley loved travelling the pow-wow trail with family to help run the Crow Chief family concession every summer at powwows all over Alberta and Saskatchewan. Riley often would babysit for family and had many close relationships with all the children he babysat for, in which he loved like his own. Riley was big on family and loved everyone he came into contact with. Everyone he met he took as family, where he adopted many Aunts, Uncles, Sisters, Brothers, Nieces and Nephews. Riley leaves behind his mother and father, Wilda and Calvert Yellow Old Woman. Grandma: Eve Yellow Old Woman. Great Aunt: Rena Sinclair, Siblings: Carrie-Ann (Mike), Kaylo, Tamara, and his baby sister Treasure. Nephews and Nieces: Braxton, Brinley, Blake, Tyra, Kaylei, Taysha, Elijah, Trask, Kayanna, Niiko. Maternal Aunts and Uncles: Romeo, Ann-Marie (Rob), Lillian, Daphne, Dwayne, Robert (Barbra), Marcia (Rick), Glen, Jason (Carrie), Benny (Myra). Paternal Aunts and Uncles: Robert, Herman (Michelle), Delphine, Jeanie, Flora, Melvina, Evangeline, and Derrick Brass. Numerous Cousins on both the Crow Chief and Yellow Old Woman families. Adopted Aunts and Uncles: Mary Wolf Child, Alison and Jamie Red Crow.
Predeceased by his Maternal Grandparents: Carrie Backfat, Valerie and Hugh Crow Chief. Paternal Grandpa: Gordon Yellow Old Woman, Uncles: Buster Crow Chief, Charlie Wayne Yellow Old Woman, Melvin Yellow Old Woman, Fred Yellow Old Woman Aunts: Judy Ann Brass Cousins: Leonard Yellow Old Woman, Todd Yellow Old Woman, Charmaine Doore, Cheeks Delaney, Joshua and Valerie Breaker.
His extended families are Backfat, Ayoungman, Crow Chief, Sitting Eagle, Yellow Old Woman, Delaney, Mayfield, Black, Young, White Elks, Healy, Red Gun, Winnipeg, Raw Eater, Plaited Hair, Weasel Child, Sinclair, Gladstone. We apologize if we missed anyone. Riley was loved by many.
Wake services will be held at the Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbor at 7:00pm, December 1, 2020 with Covid-19 Restrictions adhere to. Funeral services will be held at the Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbor, December 2, 2020. Final Viewing at 10am – 1pm. Graveside Services at Paul Little Walker Cemetery. A Drive Thru feast will follow at Gordon Yellow Fly Memorial Arbor.
