The family of the late Caleb Allen Lane are saddened to announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Cal passed away peacefully at the James Paton Memorial Regional Hospital in Gander at the age of 86, on Monday, August 3, 2020.
Cal was predeceased by his parents, Percy & Mary Ellen; sisters, Flossie & Violet; and brothers, Fred, Frank & Tom.
Left to mourn with loving memories his wife, Sadie; daughters; Ann (William Haggerty) of Elmsdale, NS, Angie (David Philpott) of Fall River, NS, beloved granddaughters, Holly & Sarah Philpott; brother, Rex (Mariam) of Alberta, and a large circle of family members and lifelong friends.
Cal & Sadie moved “in on the Gander” in 1956. Cal began his career as a draftsman working with DOT and then with DND until his retirement in 1988.
During their 64 years of marriage, Cal & Sadie enjoyed travelling the world making many long-lasting friendships. Summers were lovingly spent in St. Chad’s with family & friends, where Cal tended to his vegetable gardens and where he especially enjoyed boating, cod fishing and playing crib with granddaughters Holly & Sarah.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander. Due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, a private family celebration of life will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Cal’s memory to the Fraser Road United Church, Maintenance Fund, 1 Brochen Street, Gander, NL A1V 1T3, or to the charity of your choice.
