Bruce Ross Windeler
1934-2020
WINDELER, Bruce Ross – We sadly
announce the passing of Bruce Windeler, age 86, on Thursday, December
24, 2020, in Harbourstone Enhanced Care in Sydney, NS. Bruce was born
in Grand Falls, NL and was the son of Henry and Dorothy (Brain)
Windeler of Charlottetown, PEI and father to 7
children.
He was a stationary engineer at STORA in Port Hawkesbury
until his retirement. As a long-time member of the local fire
department in Port Hawkesbury, we have many memories of him rushing
down the stairs to go to a late-night call. We spent every summer
going on camping trips to PEI and as far away as BC with him being the
sole driver. Bruce was the type of person who could do anything he set
his mind to, whether it was sewing a new canvas for the tent trailer,
building a log cabin or furniture, or fixing anything broken. He
enjoyed word find puzzles, reading the newspaper, hunting, fishing and
telling stories. He travelled extensively, starting earlier in his
life as a merchant marine and later with his wife Betty. Summers were
spent at the cabin he built in Orangedale.
Bruce is survived by his sons, Henry (Janet Wiseman), Goose
Bay and Keith, Athabasca; his daughters, Dorothy (Gary Kaiser), Mira,
Colleen (Shawn Cassidy), Westmount, Charlene (Darren Drake), Calgary
and daughter in law Helen, Alberta. He is also survived by his sister
Marjorie, Montreal, 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was
predeceased by his wife, Betty; sons, Ross and Brian and his brother,
Harvey.
No service to be held at this time. Arrangements are under
the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of
comfort may be forwarded to the family at

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Bruce Ross Windeler 19342020..
