Obituary of Brian Lloyd Gilman
With broken hearts, the family of Brian Lloyd Gilman announce his sudden passing on September 30, 2020, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in St. Stephen, NB, on March 29, 1956, to Charles and Phyllis (Acheson) Gilman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Imelda (Jones) of Quispamsis, NB; daughter Gwyneth (Fraser), son in law Joe, and granddaughter Bridget, St. Stephen; and son Kenneth, Quispamsis; brothers Michael (Virginia) and Jason (Tina); stepmother Marilyn Rollins, parents in law Deirdre and Tudor Jones; brothers and sisters in law and extended family as well as many wonderful friends. In addition to his parents, Brian was predeceased by grandson Gavyn Fraser.
Brian began his career working for NB Tel and Irving Oil then moved on to IBM, followed by NTD Data, before focusing more on his hobbies. He loved the water and was an avid kayaker for over 35 years. He also liked to travel and he and Imelda vacationed to many locations including the Bahamas, multiple visits to Great Britain and a 30th wedding anniversary Mediterranean cruise. In more recent years they have thoroughly enjoyed the innumerable road trips (in his favourite cars) all over the Maritimes and across both the US and Canada, all the way to the west coast. He enjoyed bicycling, hiking and spending time with his beloved Bridget and continued to do all of these things during the course of his illness, while staycationing in beautiful NB.
He will be forever remembered as a loving, generous and kind husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend that was quick to lend a helping hand.
The family would like to thank the doctors and healthcare staff involved with Brian’s care.
