Tributes
Burke, Bonnie Marilyn (nee Peever)
Retired Insurance Broker, (McCurdy and Burke Insurance Brokers, Richmond, Ont.) and long-time employee of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. (Ottawa)
On Thursday, October 8, 2020, age 79. Proud mother of David and Chris (Julia). Adoring grandmother to her only grandchild, the apple of her eye, Jodi Lynn. Missed dearly by her best friend Sweetie. Predeceased by her husband, Vince. Also, parents Stella and Eric Peever, and her baby sister. Remembered by sister in law Katherine, and niece Sharon (Fred), many friends, and neighbours on the Second Line of Huntley. Mom was our family’s corner stone, our rock. A woman who herself was incredibly proud and strong, but also a source of strength to those of us who loved her. Always caring towards and supportive of her husband and family. She worked while raising her family. Later attending night school to earn her Insurance Brokers License. She worked alongside Dad, then cared for him, while still running the family business, after he became ill. After Mom retired she had more time to, and found joy in cross border shopping, church dinners, restaurant outings with friends, gardening, garage sale-ing, and finding a good deal, knitting, pickling, wine making, the odd trip to the slots, generally enjoying every opportunity to have a good laugh. More importantly enjoying just being Mom, Nana and spending time with Sweetie. Her sons and granddaughter meant so much to her, the source of so much pride. She, unselfishly battled, giving us two extra years to have her in our lives. Mom still had things she wanted to do, she still had plans, and hoped to return home, after being moved. Now she is gone, she is at peace. She can enjoy her well-earned winter’s nap. We will carry her memory with us always. The family would find peace in knowing that others look out for their aging or sick friends and family members, asking that you never stop being involved in their care, and advocate for the care, treatment and respect they deserve. A visitation will be held at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 115 Rivingston St, Carp on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 from 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, October 15, 2020 from 2-4 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel on Friday, October 16, 2020 at 1 p.m. Burial to follow at Pinecrest Remembrance Cemetery.
