Beverly’s Obituary
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going. Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:1-6)
Beverly was the quiet heart of the Wilkinson family. She was the love of John’s life, the best friend and cheerleader of her daughter Becky and the best and most loving mom ever to her (favorite) son Jeff. She was the light of our lives and constantly sacrificed her own needs to do everything for all of us. She loved her husband, kids, and spouses (Joel & Suzanne) and grandkids (Isaac, Ayden, Masika, Grayson, Canaan & Archie) and Archie’s Mom Meredith, to no end and was endlessly proud of them, their characters, and their accomplishments.
Beverly was born in Melfort Saskatchewan (Dad and Mom Archie and Jean Britton, her much loved sister and travelling companion Barb and her big brother and partner-in-crime Jim, and sister-in-law Jo-Ann) and always loved the big sky’s and mountains of the West. Beverly loved nature, quietly working in her garden, going for long walks and being active outdoors, travelling and exploring the world, the wild weather of the Toronto islands, and her “caticles” (two cats, Bonnie and Clive). She was an avid reader and “puzzler” and had an intelligent, keen mind. She loved baking pies, butter tarts, hazelnut cakes & maple mouse and any dessert that would bring delight to those she was serving it to.
She had a playful spirit and often had a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. She was known for her love to laugh (and bug and tease!) and her sense of humour. Beverly had an amazing ability to quietly listen to and encourage others and to be a mom to people who needed an extra mom. She always wanted to know about people and was interested in all the details of their lives.
Having become a Christian at the age of 25, Beverly had a deep Christian faith and she spent much of her life serving God and others in many quiet ways. Her life was built on the solid foundation of Jesus love for us all and the joy, hope and meaning that we find in Christ.
John and Beverly were the perfect team, and they built an amazing life for their family and those around them. Beverly loved her and John’s extended family and relatives, the Edmonton “clique”, her childhood friendships, Toronto friends (special mention to Helen and Gary), Grace Toronto church members and her zoom circle, the Wilkinson Construction staff members, and many people too numerous to name.
She touched all our lives in a special way, and we are beyond grateful for the time that we had with her on this earth. We look forward to being with her again one day in heaven.
Today we found this Bible verse in her journal: “Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is His unfailing love.” (Lamentations 3:32)
