Obituary for Bev Boyd
J. Beverly Boyd
February 11, 1940 – November 7, 2020
Passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at his home on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Raised in Point Edward, J. Beverly Boyd, of Petrolia, was in his 81st year. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years Carol (nee Shortt), his sons Michael Boyd and Max (Charlotte) Boyd, and his grandchildren Conor, Riley (Taylor), Ryan, and Collin. He is also the brother of Robert (the late Joyce) Boyd, Clayton (Marlene) Boyd, Joyce (Hank) Vanderzwart, and Peggy Boyd. Bev was the son of the late William and Ev Boyd and was predeceased by siblings Bill (the late Grace) Boyd, George (the late Annie) Boyd, Geraldine (the late Tom) Haggarty, and Grant Boyd. He was also the brother-in-law of Clint (the late Ruby) Shortt, the late Burton (the late Faye) Shortt, and Leland (Sandy) Shortt. Bev was a longtime and active member of Petrolia/Washington Masonic Lodge No. 194. He was a retired Pipefitter from Polysar, a proud member of Unifor Local 914, and a 20 year board member of Polysar Employees Credit Union. Bev enjoyed many things including following local hockey teams particularly his grandsons teams. He also took great pride in maintaining his gardens and yard, enjoyed traveling to many destinations with Carol, and entertaining family and long time friends. A private memorial service will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. (the service will be live streamed at Facebook.com/NeedhamJay). Interment will be in Hillsdale Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to C.E.E. Hospital Foundation (www.ceehf.ca) or the London Regional Cancer Centre (lhsf.ca).
