Obituary
It is with great sadness the family of Elizabeth Anne “Betty” Ferris announce her passing which occurred with her loving family at her side on December 16, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Newtown, NB February 8th of 1941, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Arseneau) McIlwraith. Betty worked in the Car Rental Industry for over 25 years, retiring from Downey Ford Rentals in the early 90’s. A devoted member of St. Joachim’s Catholic Church, she had a strong faith in the Lord. Betty loved sports and was an avid Sea Dogs and Montreal Canadians Fan. She had her own jersey “ Nanny 911” . A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved Christmas and time with family and friends. Enjoyed listening to Elvis music, quilting and knitting with of course her feline friend Ringo curled up next to her. Those who knew and loved her will miss her forever. Eldon would often call her the “The Best Wife in the world”.
Betty is survived by her loving husband Eldon George Ferris of Saint John; son Randy MacDonald (Nicole), daughter Cheryl MacDonald (Kevin) both of Saint John and daughter-in-law Sherri MacLeod of Ottawa, ON; brother Robert McIlwraith (Joyce) of Quispamsis and sister Helen MacDonald (Les) of French Village; precious grandchildren Marie (Travis), Jenny (Keith), Cory, Kelsie (Rikkie), Morgan (Chad), Maria (Dylan) and Dylan great-grandchildren Peyton and Clark; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with her parents Betty was predeceased by her beloved son Rusty; brothers Bill, Eric, Albert, Gordon, Stuart, John and Ronnie; sisters Doreen Duncan and Patricia Cunningham.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Sunday December 20th from 2-6 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Monday December 21st at 12:00 Noon. Due to public health’s pandemic restrictions and to maintain everyone’s safety capacity is limited during the funeral. Interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date. Donations in Betty’s memory can be made to Alzheimers Society, Dialysis Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital or the Children’s Wish Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
