Obituary of Bessie Vernon Cocarell
Passed peacefully away among family and friends on October 25, 2020 at the Hugh Twomey Center, Bess (Bessie) Cocarell (nee Janes) of Bishops Falls at 85 years of age.
Born and raised in Ramea but lived most of her adult life in Bishops Falls with her husband Levison and their daughter Paula. The last few years of her life was under the great care of the staff at the Hugh Twomey Center in Botwood. Your compassion and care for Bess over the years and especially in the last few weeks of her life have not gone unnoticed, again we thank you.
Bess or Bessie as Levison liked to call her, was known to many for her humour. She could tell a story like no other, most of which came from her own life experiences, which of course, made them all the more humorous. Her funny side also came out from the countless times she performed at the annual St. Paddy’s Day concerts, and needless to say her skits left everyone crying from laughter in their seats. Bess was also a member of the lioness, where she spent many hours volunteering. Bess was an avid Bingo player and also loved to salmon fish. Her favourite place to fish was on the Conne River in Camp 3 and that is where she met most of whom she liked to call her “Camp 3 Family”.
Bess was predeceased by her parents Cassie and Austin Janes; in laws Wilson and Clara Cocarell; sister Shirley; nephew Jim Lewis, and her loving husband Levison and adored daughter Paula.
Left to mourn are her siblings George, his wife Bridgett, sister Una Lewis; nephews Dean, Brian and Brent; niece Jo-Anne; and goddaughter Renee Kearley whom she thought of as a granddaughter; also an enormous circle of friends.
Bess you will forever be missed, for your presence on this earth was great and definitely unforgettable and many people leave this earth without leaving a footprint in people’s memories but Bessie you surely did leave yours. God Bless, we will miss you.
Rev. Jeff Blackwood will conducted a memorial service at the Anglican Church in Bishops Falls on Wednesday, October 28th at 11 am with interment at the Anglican Church Cemetery
Pallbearers are nephew Dean Janes, family friends Murray Kearley, Rob Kearley, Joe Power, Pierce Power, and Wayne Mills.
