Obituary
With much love, we mourn that Bert Hancock, of St. Albert, passed away peacefully on Nov. 5, 2020 at the age of 79 years, after a brief yet mighty battle with cancer.
Bert was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1941. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1967, then went on to teach school in Peace River, Milk River, Taber, and Sherwood Park, Alberta. He was the owner and editor of the newspaper publications: Raymond Review, Cardston Chronicle, and Sheep Canada Magazine. As a talented home-improvement handy-man, he enjoyed his employment at Home Depot where he worked up until his death. Bert also served diligently with the Optimist Club Organization for over 20 years on various committee levels, both locally and district areas, including on the board, and as president of the Dinner Optimist Club of Edmonton.
Bert will be lovingly remembered by his wife and sweetheart Fran Cragg; his daughters Theresa Kruger, and Stacey (Rick) Williams, and step-daughter Kelly (Trouy) Hafermehl; and his grandchildren: Jared, Daniel, Sharissa, Jessica, Stephanie, Zachary, Chelsea, Haley, Chloe, Dylan, Kyle, Jordan, and Kaia; and many nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind his siblings Myrna, Keith, and Chari; as well as numerous friends. He was predeceased by his parents Alma and Ella Hancock of Raymond, Alberta, and his siblings Dorine and Calvin.
A Memorial Service in Bert’s honour will be held on Thursday, November 12 at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 10 Akins Drive, St. Albert.
