Obituary of Bernie Lamey
It is with deep sadness the family of Allen Bernard “Bernie” Lamey of New Glasgow announces his passing on December 11, 2020. Bernie passed peacefully with his lifelong partner Keddy at his side.
Except for a short time spent working as a police officer with Halifax and New Glasgow Police, Bernie spent most of his working career working with Canadian National Railways. Upon his retirement, Bernie spent many hours reading and travelling to Westville, sometimes as often as three times a day Bernie would drive out to his “hometown” to visit and spent time with his lifelong friends. Bernie was a private, kindly and unassuming man.
Bernie was born in New Glasgow on September 3rd, 1935. He was the son of late Alexander and Catherine (Beaton) Lamey. Bernie is survived by his two sons, Chris and Colin; his partner of 60 years Keddy Humphreys; his extended family, Alan and Gary Humphreys, Carol Martin and Kathy Holman; siblings Mary O’Connor, Cecilia Millen, Linda Sorel, Larry and Leo as well several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by Sandy Humphreys and siblings Jim, Willard, Theresa, Elizabeth, Donnie, Ken, and Loretta.
A private family funeral service will be held in Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with Bernie’s nephew, Father Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment will be in Holy Name Roman Catholic Cemetery.
Bernie’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the Victorian Order of Nurses who contributed to extending his time to remain at home possible.
If desired, donations may be made in Bernie’s memory to Pictou County S.P.C.A. .

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Bernie
