Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey Berniece (Howlett) Garnett which occurred on January 28th surrounded by her loving family. Berniece was the loving wife (70 years) of David Garnett, he predeceased her by two months. Berniece was born November 5, 1929 in Saint John to the late Viola (Blizzard) and Ralph Howlett.
Berniece was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and accompanying David on his many golf trips where she was truly his biggest fan! She was a strong, patient, beautiful woman who became an influential role model for her children and grandchildren. She always made each grandchild feel special by celebrating each of their accomplishments and reminding them they are supported and loved.
Berniece worked at F.W. Woolworth in Uptown Saint John for many years. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, having crocheted a formal tablecloth for each of her children that will be forever cherished. Berniece was a member of the Garnett Settlement Christian Church and an active member of the Ladies Guild for many decades.
Berniece is survived by her children: Gail (Bob) Proctor of St. Martins, Louise Jackson of Quispamsis, Betty MacMillan of Saint John, Wayne (Mina) of Garnett Settlement and Brenda Fowler (Kevin) of Upham, as well as her grandchildren; Darin (Sue) Proctor, Ian Proctor, Tammy (Jeff) LeBlanc, Krista (Ed) Murray, Shelly (Scott) Hicks, Tara (Pete) Richard, Colin Huttges, Cayman (Terry) Grant-City, Peter (Rebecca) Huttges, Dr. William Huttges (Dr. Chelsie Armstrong ), Tanya (Todd) Fowler, Jamie (Jill) Fowler, Sisters; Carol Logue, Rena (Gordie) Fairweather, Sandra (Bill) Wood, Joyce Murphy all of Saint John, and one brother; George (Vera Lynn) Howlett of Saskatchewan; 28 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Berniece was predeceased by her loving husband of 70 years David, her sisters; Phyllis Moore, Dorothy Foote; brothers; Ralph, Charles, Richard, James and her great-grandson Jackson Murray.
Berniece will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held between the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, January 31, 2020. Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, February 1, from the Fundy Chapel.
