Obituary of Bernice Jewson
Jewson: Bernice May
Bernice May Jewson (nee Graham) passed away peacefully in the Clinton Public Hospital on Friday August 28, 2020 with family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Alan Havelock Jewson and her daughter- in – law Patricia (Briggs) Jewson.
Bernice was born in North Gower in 1923, the only child of Fred and Edna Graham. She grew up on the family farm and left it to attend Queen’s University at the age of 16. She earned a BA in Bacteriology and Chemistry.
She met her beloved husband Al when she was working at the Ontario Agricultural College. They married and spent 47 years together travelling the world and raising 3 sons. They bought a slice of paradise on Drag Lake near Haliburton in 1968, and it became a gathering spot for friends and family for generations. Al passed away in 1994, and Bernice has now rejoined the love of her life to continue their adventures.
Bernice is survived by her sons Fred (Midge), Dick (Shirley) and Tim (Jane). She is the beloved grandmother of 9 grandchildren – Heather (Greg), Sara (Mitch), Brad (Amanda), Will (Carolyn), Michael (Sarah), Graham, Meredith (Brendan), Madison (Jim), and Mitchell (Erin), and 8 great grandchildren.
Cremation has occurred. A celebration of Bernice’s remarkable life will take place at a later date. Memorial donations in her memory may be directed to The Clinton Public Hospital Foundation or the Clinton United Church or to a charity of your choice.
