Obituary for Mr. Bernard Turville Shaw
BERNARD TURVILLE SHAW (August 5, 1934- May 19, 2020). Bernard Turville Shaw passed peacefully in his home Wasaga Beach, ON while surrounded by his loving family.
Predeceased by his parents Ivy May (Turville) Shaw and Sylvanus Shaw from England. Bernard is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years Mavis (Lawrence) Shaw and brother Edward (Greta). Cherished father to his sons Kevin (Lorraine), Brian and Darrin and daughter of the heart, Donna Bertram Shaw. Adored grandfather to Kyle, Ashley, Drew and Brittany and great grandfather to Charles Shaw.
Bernard (Bernie) was born and raised on the family farm in Hatfield Point, NB. He moved to Toronto at the age of 18 where he met the love of his life and started their family. He worked at many jobs including 10 years with the TTC, and ended with his own entrepreneurial interests, including a backhoe/trucking business. Bernie raised his family in Ontario, but his heart never left his birthplace in NB. Mavis and Bernie kept homes in both places where many memories were made. He was a proud and devout member of the Blackwood Lodge Masons, where he became a master. Bernard will be held dear in the hearts of his family and many friends for his calm nature, generosity and quick wit.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to his health care teams, Dr. Kotchetkov of Royal Victoria Hospital and Pat from Saint Elizabeth Health Care who provided indebted comfort and support. A special thank you to Dr. O’Halloran for his compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
