1947-2020
Banks, Bernard Kenneth, age 72.
of Ohio, Antigonish County passed away peacefully on May 24, 2020 in
St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Fred and
Stella (Delorey) Banks.
Bernie was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather,
uncle and friend. His family was his life. He never turned down a good
game of cards and made sure he rubbed it in good when he won; not to
mention that he always had a good joke to make you laugh when you saw
him. Bernie worked as a tree grader with Northeastern Christmas Tree
Association for more than thirty years meeting many growers and making
many lasting friendships along the way. He was also a painter with
Gottschall Painters for many years as well as being self employed in
that field. Bernie loved his hunting and fishing trips making lasting
memories with his brothers and his his best friend “grandson
Logan”. He touched the hearts of everyone that knew him, leaving
them with many lasting memories.
He is survived by his wife Karen (MacLean); daughter, Shelley
(Mehak) Singh, Ohio; son, Marshall (Anne), Yellowknife; grandchildren:
Riley, Keegan, Neika, Tiernan, Logan and Bailey; brother, Andre
(Marcelle). Margaretsville; Gerard, Ohio; Anthony (Karen), Morinville,
AB; sister, Rita Banks -Houghton (Vince Baird), Giant’s
Lake; Mary (late Anthony) Mahoney, Union Centre as well as many nieces
and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers Leo,
Peter, Fred and Joe (in infancy); sister, Anne.
Due to Covid 19 restrictions there will be a private
visitation and funeral with a livestream link provided on C.L. Curry
website on Friday. Burial in St. Joseph’s
Cemetery.

Society or St. Joseph’s Hillside Cemetery Association.
